Congratulations to Klaus Kaestner on Receiving Two Major Awards!

Huge congratulations to Core Member Klaus Kaestner, PhD, on receiving two major awards: the American Gastroenterological Association Distinguished Achievement Award in Basic Science and the Albert Renold Prize!

Established in 1968, the Distinguished Achievement Award in Basic Science recognizes an individual whose accomplishments in basic research have significantly advanced the science and practice of gastroenterology. In Klaus’s award citation, AGA notes that “among his achievements are the use of genetic and genomic tools to explain the sexual dimorphism in liver cancer in mammals and a better understanding of the intestinal stem cell niche.”

Awarded by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, the Albert Renold Prize recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of pathophysiology and treatment of diabetes mellitus. The awardee will receive a monetary prize generously sponsored by Lilly and will deliver a Lecture during the EASD Annual Meeting in the year of the award describing the awardee’s most important scientific achievements.

Congratulations to Klaus on these two well-deserved awards!
