The Epigenetic Institute congratulates Montserrat Anguera, PhD, and Rahul Kohli, MD, PhD, who were each promoted to Professor!

Montserrat is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Penn Vet. The research in the her laboratory focuses on maintenance of X-chromosome Inactivation in the immune system and in stem cells. They also study epigenetic mechanisms involving long noncoding RNAs during early human development and placental progenitors.

Rahul is a Professor of Medicine whose lab studies enzymes that modify and edit DNA using the combined tools of chemical biology, protein engineering, and biochemistry. Particular areas of focus are the dynamics of DNA methylation and demethylation, and the development of novel enzymatic methods that harness the enzymes that write DNA modifications in order to read or edit the epigenomic.
